Heading back

Last weekend Alli and I drove to California to visit our old stomping grounds.  She spent the weekend in San Diego at a wedding and I stayed in Orange County visiting friends.
Saturday morning I went to the Lunds (my nanny family) to visit.  It was fun to see my them again.  My aunt and I chatted by the pool while the kids swam.  It was fun to catch up and see the kiddos again.  It's crazy how much kids change at that age in such a short amount of time.  The rest of Saturday was spent at the beach and I could have just laid there all weekend and been content.  It was absoutely beautiful and so good to be back near the ocean.
Being Memorial Day weekend, we weren't the only ones heading to the beach.  But it was definitely worth the wait.
Getting closer...
Hooray!  It doesn't get much better than this, right?!

Saturday night Chelsea and I went to the movie Babies. I had been looking forward to seeing it and let's just say, I wouldn't recommend it. But I did get to eat at Togo's which I have missed.
Sunday I went back to the good ol' Saddleback ward and it was like going home. I have missed that ward so much and it just felt like I never left.
Sunday night I went over to a friend's house for a game night. It was just so good to see so many old friends. We played until all hours of the night which was great until I was trying to stay awake on the drive home the next day.
On Monday, Alli and I made a quick stop at The Spectrum to hit H&M for a little shopping before we headed home.  We also went to Whole Foods for some yummy California produce to take back.

Jay, bless his little heart, got up and begrudgingly made breakfast before the drive home :)

Although Jay looks half asleep and Matt looks tortured, this picture just makes me smile every time.  Lots of memories with these boys.

Any other Chuck fans out there??

I made Alli turn around and drive past this road again so I could get a picture.  For you dad!

We weren't used to seeing the Disney Way exit, and not getting off.  We had a moment of silence as we drove right on past.
Although the drive was long, it was much longer for those going the other way.  You can't really tell from this picture but both on our way in and on our way out the traffic the opposite way was horrendous.

It was very surreal to be back and all in all a great trip.  If anyone feels like a weekend roadtrip to Southern California, let me know.  I'm game.

How great to have lived for a year in a place with such happy memories! I'm glad you got to go back even if it was just for a weekend.

I knew that street sign existed... I saw it many many (26+) years ago when I was in Southern California for a wedding. It was next to Kelvin Circle, if I remember correctly. I wanted a picture of it then, but cameras were not near as easy and convenient are they are now.
